Sự khác biệt về ý nghĩa, cách dùng giữa will và be going to

Will và be going to đều thuộc cấu trúc ngữ pháp của thì tương lai đơn, tuy nhiên tùy theo ngữ cảnh ta sẽ phải lựa chọn dùng phù hợp và chính xác nhất.

1. Sự khác biệt giữ will và be going to

1.1 The structure (Cấu trúc ngữ pháp)

  • S + will / + V (bare/infinitive) + …
  • S + am / is / are + going to + V (bare/infinitive) + …
  • S + will not (won’t) + V (bare/infinitive) + …
  • S + am / is / are + not + going to + V (bare/infinitive) + …
  • Will  + S + V (bare/infinitive) + …?
  • Am / Is / Are + S + going to + V (bare/infinitive) + …?

1.2 The Use (Cách sử dụng)

Để diễn tả một dự đoán về một hành động ở tương lai ta có thể dùng “Will” hoặc “Be going to”

Ví dụ:

(a) He will finish his work tomorrow.

(b) The people will not go to the Jupiter before 22nd century.

(Con nguời không thể lên sao Mộc trước thế kỉ 22)

(c) According to the weather report, it is going to be cloudy tomorrow.

(e) A: Are you busy this evening?

B: Yes. I’m going to meet Kavin at the library at seven. We are going to study together.

(f)  A: Why did you buy this paint? (Tại sao bạn mua sơn này?)

B: I am going to paint my bedroom.

(g) I talked to Tom yesterday. He is tired of taking the bus to work. He’s going to buy a car.

Vì thế anh ta mới phải dùng “be going to”.

(h) A: The phone is ringing. (Điện thoại đang reo kìa)

B: I will get it. (Tôi sẽ nghe máy cho.)

(i) Will you please pass the salt? (Vui lòng chuyển giúp tôi lọ muối?)

(j) I will be back immediately.

(k) When Bob comes, we will see him.

(l) She will pay us back when she gets a job.
