1. LỜI KHUYÊN (ADVICE)
Khi cần khuyên ai làm một việc gì đó, chúng ta có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau:
| Cấu trúc | Ví dụ |
| You should / ought to: | You should wash your hands regularly to avoid Covid-19. |
| You need to: | You need to go see the doctor soon. |
| If I were you, I would: | If I were you, I would call her right now. |
| Why don’t you: | Why don’t you find another job? |
E.g.1
A: My English test is coming, but I’m not ready yet.
B: If I were you, I would start reviewing it right away.
E.g.2
A: I’m always broke at the end of the month.
B: I think you should reconsider your spending.
2. LỜI ĐỀ XUẤT (SUGGESTIONS)
2.1. Khi cần đưa ra một ý kiến đề xuất hay đề nghị, chúng ta có thể sử dụng một trong các cấu trúc sau:
| Cấu trúc | Ví dụ |
| What / How about: | What about going to the cinema tonight? |
| Why don’t we: | Why don’t we take a bike trip tomorrow? |
| Let’s: | Let’s discuss this problem right now. |
| We could: | We could stay here longer. It’s wonderful. |
| I suggest we: | I suggest we leave the party soon. |
| Have you thought of: |
Have you ever thought of giving him a tie? |
2.2. Dùng các câu sau để trả lời các ý kiến đề nghị hay đề xuất của người khác.
It’s a good idea.
Sounds great. / Sounds like fun.
I don’t think it’s a good idea.
E.g.1
A: I’m so bored. Sitting around here makes me sick.
B: How about watching some movies?
E.g.2
A: Next Saturday is John’s birthday.
B: Really? So, let’s make him a surprise party.
E.g.3
A: Let’s eat at Prague Pub. The food there is delicious.
B: I don’t think that’s a good idea. It’s always crowded there.
3. LỜI CẢNH BÁO (WARNINGS)
3.1. Khi muốn cảnh báo ai đó về những điều họ không nên làm, chúng ta có thể dùng các cấu trúc sau:
| Cấu trúc | Ví dụ |
| Or: | Don’t stay up late, or you’ll be late for school tomorrow. |
| Otherwise: | Work harder, otherwise you won’t get promotion. |
| Watch out!: | Watch out! There’s a hole on the ground. |
| Be careful!: | Be careful! The box is very heavy. |
| You’d better: | You’d better not swim too far away. |
3.2. Dùng các câu hoặc cấu trúc sau để trả lời các lời cảnh báo.
OK! I will / won’t.
Don’t worry. I will / won’t.
E.g.1
A: Don’t stay up late, or you’ll be late for school tomorrow.
B: Don’t worry. I won’t (stay up late).
E.g.2
A: You’d better submit the assignment on time.
B: OK. I will (submit the assignment on time).
